Gold Star Advocate Joins Board of Advisors

Krista Simpson Anderson

FORCE BLUE is proud to announce that one of the nation’s leading advocates for military families and Gold Star survivors, Krista Simpson Anderson, has joined the organization’s newly formed Board of Advisors.

The proud wife of retired MSG Gus Anderson and a Gold Star spouse of Green Beret SSG Michael H. Simpson, who passed on May 1, 2013 due to injuries sustained in Afghanistan, Krista has made it her life’s work to help ease the burdens that military families are often forced to endure.

A dedicated mother of two sons, both of whom graduated from FORCE BLUE’s inaugural Ocean Conservation School (OCS) in 2022, Krista has been instrumental in the program’s continued growth and success, serving as a main conduit between the organization and the military families it seeks to serve.

Krista co-founded The Unquiet Professional to support military families and survivors and founded Brave Group, LLC to help educate the community on the importance of preparing for the unexpected. She has participated in working groups with the Army and the Department of Defense, focusing on improving quality of life for military members as well as the casualty process.

Currently, Krista advises on boards for Newrez and The Grateful Nation Project. She is also a policy advisor, strategic connector, and passionate advocate for military families, veterans, caregivers, and survivors.

Her awards and recognitions include the “2018 Armed Forces Insurance Army Spouse of the Year and overall Military Spouse of the Year,” the “2019 Green Beret Foundation Keeper of the Brave,” the “top 17 Change Makers to follow in 2021” by Military Influencer, Mighty 25 in 2025, and the Army’s Superior Public Service Medal.
