Publix / FORCE BLUE Marine Debris Removal Stop: Destin

As part of its ongoing, year-long effort to remove marine debris from the coastal waters surrounding Florida, FORCE BLUE once again teamed up with Publix Supermarkets and the Destin/Fort Walton Beach Natural Resources Team for a week of offshore and inshore clean-up earlier this month.

Over the course of three days, 10 FORCE BLUE veterans conducted 81 total dives on eight offshore artificial reefs in depths ranging from 60 to 130 feet and removed 612 lbs worth of anchors, fishing rods, fishing line, and weights. An inshore pier dive yielded an additional 30 lbs of marine debris, along with the removal of over 50 invasive cowrie (snails).
